[ A few months ago, Kyouko going near Madoka would have been cause for a fight. But Sayaka trusts her with this much now (which is a feat, in all honesty), and so she just shrugs; the movement jerky and unnatural.

Dimly, she's aware of the problem. That what she's doing is unhealthy, and far beyond what most people would be prepared to do. But Mami had done it — Mami had given her life for the cause, had died without ever once putting herself first, and if someone so perfect had to suffer...

A person like her has no right to complain. ]

Yeah.

[ No elaboration, no real promise. The ring on her finger reforms, and she walks away without looking back. ]

To erase all witches before their birth. ( the words are said quite simply, as if it was the most natural thing in the world for Madoka to say. she turns her hand over, glancing to the runes that made up her name on her ring before glancing up to Kyouko once more with the softest of smiles. ) To prevent them from ever being born.

Every single witch in every universe, past and future, with my own power.

[She had expected anything from wishing everyone back to life to being able to defeat Walpurgisnacht in one shot, but that...this wish, the sheer magnitude of it, had not occurred to her, would not have in a million years. And so she stares at Madoka in blatant, open shock for a few long moments.]

You changed the world? You really...you made a wish like that?

[It's said with no small amount of disbelief. She realizes, suddenly, that she is staring at one of the most powerful magical girls ever conceived or thought of. She is talking to someone who made a wish so entirely selfless that it encompassed the whole of their world.

...Finally, after a long moment of thinking of that, of sitting in the silence of Madoka's apartment, she grins, and gives Madoka a friendly punch in the shoulder.] Heh, how can you be that casual about something like that? Damn...

[She pushes a muffin over to Madoka.] You finally figured out what you wanted to be, huh? Good.

( she is quiet in the moments that follow, only glancing off a bit bashfully when Kyouko speaks. well, at least until the friendly punch to her shoulder comes and she glances back in surprise.

still, she finds herself giggling lightly and taking the muffin that had been pushed her way. )

I really have to thank you, Kyouko-chan. It's thanks to what I learned from everyone that I was finally able to able to find the wish I truly wanted. I'm just sorry it took so long. ( peeling away the paper from the muffin, she breaks off a piece with another big smile toward Kyouko. ) When we get back home I'm not really sure just what is going to happen, but...

I'd really like us to be friends again, okay? All of us.

[Kyouko smiles at the reaction. It's very much like Madoka, she had realized, to give everyone the credit for something she'd done through her own ability, but Kyouko found this trait endearing rather than grating. It was something that awakened that old desire she had, the one to protect other people.

There was something inspiring about it.

But her expression sobers, at the mention of friendship, of going home. She understands, of course, knows Madoka's heart is in the right place, but saying and doing would be two entirely different things.]

...Yeah. But, you know, I talked to Sayaka before I came to see you. She's so damn hardheaded. How am I supposed to be friends with someone like that?

Sorry this is such short notice--but the Initiative gave me a mission this morning, and it looks like I'll be gone for a few weeks. [ he brings a hand up to his lips, thinking. ] I should be back sometime soon... so don't worry.

[ She doesn't say much, when they're together — it's mostly just hours spent sitting quietly on the floor, and while she's content with that (nothing she has to say is important, anyway), there's something Kyouko needs to know. But she's a coward who can't say it to Kyouko's face, so she sends a text when she's sure she won't be found easily. ]

[She'd expected Mami to find out, of course (eventually), but not for Sayaka to tell her. She figured it'd be on accident, someone would make a slip. Or perhaps it'd be broken to her in a calmer way, through Madoka's interference.

Kyouko has no illusions it went well, if Sayaka was the one to break it to her.]

[ But that wasn't the whole reason, and she might as well be honest. Telling Mami that she died would come under the 'deserve to know' umbrella, but she said a lot more than that, and there was a different reason for it.

Someone like Mami shouldn't be friends with a witch, after all. ]

[ There's no reply, but it's obvious why she asked. For all her talk of not wanting to be found, being alone isn't that easy, especially after what happened with Mami: she doesn't entirely believe in what Kyouko says, but it's enough for her to listen. Kyouko's just different from her — someone who managed to change herself for the better, not worse — and she can't move past things in the same way.

The door opens — she doesn't announce her presence, just sits on the bottom bed with a sigh. ]

... Sorry. [ She isn't entirely sure what she's apologizing for. (Everything, maybe.) ] I guess I screwed things up with her.

[There's silence on the top bunk, then Kyouko's face appears, upside-down. The blood rushes to her head, but she ignores it.

After a while, she speaks up:] Yeah, maybe. [Her arms swing at her sides.] But like I said, you can fix it. It's just words.

[ 'Just words'. A lot of things are just words, and some aren't as easy to fix as others — things might not ever be okay with Mami, and maybe she should just accept that. Her senpai is probably better off not having anything to do with her. ]

... Maybe. [ She sighs, and reaches up to grab one of Kyouko's hands. (Both her arms are back, now, but she's almost gotten used to only having one, and doesn't think to use it.) ] Come down here?
